Dr. James A. Merrell is a head and neck surgeon who completed his otolaryngology residency and surgical internship at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Merrell graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio.

He has a special interest in pediatric head & neck disorders, including airway reconstruction, cochlear implantation, congenital neck masses, ear and skull Base Surgery and sinus surgery. Dr. Merrell is Board Eligible for Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery certification.

Oncology

Eric Schmidt, M.D.
Trained and experienced in the treatment of cancer. Dr. Schmidt works directly with full-time chemotherapy nurse at GVH while Schmidt provides clinics on a monthly basis to see patients and ensure they are receiving and doing well with his prescribed treatments. This team provides the “standard of care” in chemotherapy, while Montrose and Grand Junction remain the nearest locations for radiation therapy.
